Swingin´ Utters

nasty

1. What motivated and inspired you do start a punkband???
Just being a punker and wanting to be in a band, really. I'd played music my whole life, but had wanted to play rock and roll for years, and
so it finally happened and I latched on to it like a fucking leach and never let go.

2. So, what are you day jobs and tell me about the members???
Swingin' UttersJohnny prints t-shirts at a t-shirt company in Oakland... and I'm a butcher... nobody else works right now....

3. Who came up with bandname???
Johnny's friend had a pregnant cat.... with huge breasts that would swing when she walked... and a slang word for cow breasts in English is
"Udders", but they misspelled it... so it's just a really stupid fuckin'name...

4. How did you get turned on to punk rock???
Probably by hearing the Clash on the radio. I pretty much discovered it on my own, by accident or something. lucky me.

5. So you have some nice memories about your first punk rock steps???
Yep. I've still got some of the 45's that i bought when I was 9 or 10 years old... It was all very innocent... really...

6. What was the last records you bought???
Generation X anthology, an Outkast record, the new Dwight Yoakam, the Shins......

7. What’s the most important “pre-show rituals” that your always performs???
I get drunk.

8. What are some memorable / immorable shows you`ve played???
every show in Japan with NOFX was memorable and just amazing. countless shows through the years I'd rather not remember.... Milan, Italy with
Rancid... London with Rancid....

9. Are you happy with your “news” record??? Do you like how it sound???
"Dead Flowers..." is my absolute hands down favorite Utters record ever. I think it's way better than anything we've ever done, and I'm
really fucking proud of it.

10. How would you each of you characterize the others styles in the band???
Spike can play anything, Johnny is the most "punk", Greg is the "rock" and rockabilly/country guy, and I'm the country/folk/singer-songwriter
guy. but we're all in a punk band together, go figure...

11. Could you tell us, for example two or three of your fave tunes and lyrics you wrote???
Watching The Wayfarers, My Glass House, Letters to Yourself, Shadows and Lies.

12. What`s the biggest obstacle to the Band???
Having kids, not being able to tour as much as we used to. Working a lot.

13. What`s next for Swingin' Utters???
Just a handful of shows, and not much else for quite a while, I think. We're all starting new bands.

14. Final Words???
Thanks for the interview, and thanks to all those who buy our records and come out to our shows. yay!
